  • Do I have to purchase tickets in advance? Can I pay cash?
    • Tickets must be purchased in advance so we can confirm your spot in the tour. You can purchase them here.
  • What if a food tour is sold out?
    • If a tour is sold out for the day or time that you need it, please contact us to review the possibility of opening a space for that day. Please do so with 72 hours in advance. We do not offer a waiting list for any tour.
  • What if my food tour is cancelled?
    • A tour can only be cancelled if there is only one person who has booked that tour. If that happens to be you, we will contact you 24 hours before your tour begins and you will receive your payment refunded.
  • Can I reschedule my tour?
    • Once the ticket for a tour has been purchased they can not be rescheduled as we have confirmed that place for you.
  • Do I need to purchase a ticket if I am not going to consume?
    • Yes. Everyone has to purchase a ticket whether they’ll be consuming or not.
  • Do you offer Gift Certificates?
    • Yes. You can purchase them in our online store here.
  • Can I book a private food tour?
    • Yes. You can book a private tour for any of the tours we have available. Please reach us at contact@pitayafoodtours.com to get more information and to get a quote.
  • In what languages are the tours offered?
    • At the moment we only give tours in English and Spanish.
  • Does the tour guide accept gratitude?
    • Is not mandatory but if you decide to provide the gratitude it's up to you the amount that you want to give.
  • What if I want to cancel my tour?
    • If you decide to cancel your tour please inform us 48 hours in advance through the confirmation email we sent you.
  • Are there refunds?
  • Is there parking available in the tour's meeting place?
    • Yes. There is free and paid parking available around some of the places where we begin our tours.
  • Can I take my children in the tour?
    • Yes but please consider the distance we will be walking, in some places we will be standing for quite a few minutes and the tours are three to four hours long which might not be appropriate for some children as they can get fatigued.
  • Do you offer accommodation for people with disabilities?
    • In some of the places we visit they already have accommodation. In the case that they do not, we will do our best but can not guarantee accommodation. Please inform us about this at the moment you are booking so we assist you in such request.
  • Where do each food tour start?
    • For the morning and afternoon tours they begin at the location we have provided in your confirmation email.
  • Does the tour end at the same place?
    • No. Its is at a different place.
  • How much walking is involved?
    • Most of our tours are 2 to 3 miles of walking distance in total.
  • Do we only walk around and eat food?
    • No. Our tours are designed for you to enjoy and learn about the architecture, history of the city and the dishes. Additionally, in some restaurants the chef will give us a story about what inspired them to create such dishes.
  • Are the tours available for locals?
    • Yes. We provide tours for everyone who is interested in learning about the food and history of our gorgeous city.
  • What does my food tour ticket include?
    • -Tastings in different locations of the city
    • -Tour guide
    • -Lots of fun!
  • How should I dress for the tour?
    • Guadalajara has an awesome weather all year round. These are our recommendations - Normal day: Jeans or shorts, a lightweight t-shirt and tennis shoes or anything comfortable to you. Rainy season: Jeans, normal t-shirt, a lightweight rain jacket, umbrella and waterproof shoes. Just remember to be comfortable!
  • Are cameras allowed in the tour?
    • Yes. We recommend that you also use your social media accounts to take “selfies” of your food.
  • What if it rains?
    • The tour will take place rain or shine. We recommend that your properly dress for the weather and if you are going to be carrying a professional camera or any type of gadget please consider a waterproof bag to safeguard it.
  • Are restrooms available during the tour?
    • Some of the locations we will be visiting do offer restrooms but in the case that they don’t, there are also public restrooms available.
  • What if I have dietary restrictions or allergies to certain foods?
    • Please inform us in advance if you or anyone in your group has a dietary restriction, due to medical reasons or lifestyle, at the moment you book or through the confirmation email.
  • Do you offer vegetarian options?
    • Yes! Please make sure to inform us in the moment you are booking your tour or in the confirmation email.
  • Will the food that we eat be spicy or hot?
    • Mexican food in general is cooked with many different chiles and spices but the places we visit have been reviewed and are mild in taste. In case that you need some spice in your food most of them offer their homemade salsas.
  • Will I get sick by eating Mexican food?
    • All the places we visit have been personally tested and we can assure of the quality and cleanliness that the place has.
  • Are the tours Pet Friendly?
    • We love pets and have no problem with them but some locations that we will be visiting do not allow the access to pets.
  • Can I shop while in the tour?
    • We suggest that you don’t shop while in the tour. The reason is for us to be on schedule to the locations that we will be visiting and also you might miss some important historical information.
  • Any alcohol served in the tours?
    • Yes. In our bar crawl and gourmet tours we will be sampling beer and wine.
  • What is the legal drinking age in Mexico?
    • Its 18. We recommend that you take a form of ID or your passport to our Bar or Gourmet tours as they may request proof of your age.
